Axis Mundi is an ancient concept found across many cultures and belief systems. It describes a vertical axis connecting different layers of existence: the underworld, the earth, the sky and the cosmos, symbolizing the balance between the visible and invisible worlds. The RISE dancers present an excerpt from their end-of-year performance, presented last June at Zinnema in Anderlecht. Several choreographers brought their unique artistic identities to create a journey through the Axis Mundi.

About the artist

RISE Training Program is a higher education program in urban dance designed to develop dancers’ technique, creativity and artistic identity, within an environment where they can fully explore their potential. Based in La Louvière, RISE offers a comprehensive program combining practical and theoretical classes, personal projects, residency weeks with international choreographers and professional experiences. The first year focuses on developing technical skills and exploring each dancer’s unique artistic identity, while the second year places greater emphasis on personal development, integration into the cultural sector and the creation of more developed professional projects. RISE Training Program aims to train a new generation of versatile and resilient dancers, ready to thrive in an ever-evolving dance industry.
